报告人简介：

杨耘：澳大利亚斯威本科技大学(Swinburne University of Technology)终身正教授，博导。

杨耘于1992年在澳大利亚昆士兰大学获得计算机博士学位。1993年至1996在澳大利亚联邦分布式系统技术联合研究中心进行研究工作。1996年至1999年在澳大利亚迪肯大学担任讲师和高级讲师职务。1999年末加入斯威本科技大学担任副教授和终身正教授职务。2001年至2004年担任信息技术系副系主任。2000年至2005年创建并发展了因特网计算和电子商务研究中心。2005年至2007年担任信息技术研究中心副主任。2008年至2010年担任信息与通信技术学院副院长。2020年任计算机科学与软件工程系研究主管。

杨耘教授的主要研究领域包括：云及边缘计算，服务计算，大数据，软件系统，工作流管理系统。现已有5部专著，在国际会议和杂志上共发表论文超过350篇（h-index=54）。杨耘教授作为主导师，指导毕业了约20名博士生。同时作为项目主要负责人，领导团队完成20余项纵向研究课题以及和企业合作的横向课题。

杨耘教授曾任IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS)、IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing (TCC)等期刊编委。2015年被聘为澳大利亚大学研究质量评审委员会（ARC ERA2015）委员。

报告内容：

In cloud computing, due to its pay-as-you-go pricing model, it is critical to manage big data cost effectively for enabling wide application. This talk overviews our group’s overall research and in particular introduces various topics along the line of data management. More specifically, it covers data placement, data storage, and data reliability. In addition, with the cost-effectiveness philosophy in mind, it points out some applications in a much broader sense. If time allows, a brief introduction of Australia and its education system will be covered.
